- Is the name - "Apollyon" - related to the Greek God "Apollo"?
- The Commentary of "John Gill" said, - "Apollyon" is the same with "Apollo", the god of the Heathens, who has his name from destroying (z). - Which came from " Phurnutus de Natura Deorum, p. 92. Macrob. Saturnal. l. 1. c. 17."
In my own opinion this could be very true because the Greek god Apollo was the god of war. Now of course I could be wrong, but just the name and understanding of the words name in Greek means " the destroyer" and isn't that what war really does in the first place. It destroys the peace before it.
